Fun fact, because Brazil gets a second raiding shipbuilder, we get to have one customized for just the submarines, and can have one with the fabled space efficient designs for far more aircraft capacity. So while the deck size is quite small, as it is a sub, don't you worry, we are packing Getúlio to the brim here.

So do sub carriers actually work

@123 You need a discount on a raiding shipbuilder to make the visibility low enough to be not trash, then you need the spirit and a specific doctrine to buff the deck size to be more. (You can get +1 deck and +2 fighters from the MIO/Doctrines respectively,) and you get something mildly unique. A submarine that can defend itself against planes, as its fighters launching causes a % of enemy fighters to break off and decide to not bomb subs today. (Which, means in theory a fighter carrying sub might work as say, a good submarine for fleet subs when trying to operate in an air patrolled zone.) If I optimized the brazil shipbuilders a bit more I could have brought the cost down another 20% by swapping which shipbuilder I was using for my cruisers, and my subs. (I used the wrong shipbuilder for both here.) (Note: There is a -10% visibility milestone in the project, which, with a raiding shipbuilder, army spirits, and the last air independent engine, can actually give this viable visibility.)

Could be a good counter to britain spamming planes to delete your subs

@Zergling TBF, the rest of the fleet I designed has crazy anti-air scores, so you should be killing a lot of planes given how planes launched from a carrier count as 10 planes in a naval battle IIRC.
